The Convict 100 is one of the longest running mountain bike marathons in Australia, having run for over 10 years from the tiny hamlet of St Albans, 20km from Wisemans Ferry on the Hawkesbury River.

Falling on Saturday 5th May, the Convict 100 coincides with cooler starts and fair autumn weather, making it a perfect way to explore the unique terrain that borders Australia's largest city.

With three distances on offer, from 44km, 68km to the mammoth 100km, there is something to suit just about any mountain biker keen to marry the right amount of grins with just enough grimace. Each route tackles the infamous Kayak Bridge – something to fuel your trail tales in the beer garden or at work on Monday.

As St Albans sits about 1-2 hours from Sydney – depending where you live – it's an ideal way to start your weekend – infact there is enough riding in the area to stay nearby on Saturday night and go exploring on Sunday. Book fast though, the accommodation nearby is popular.
