Hans Rey is coming to Australia!

Mountain biking legend Hans ‘no way’ Rey will be coming to Australia in March for the first time in 20 years, just to attend the GT Bike Buller Festival presented by Fox.

Now in its eighth year, the GT Bike Buller Festival presented by Fox has become the ultimate mountain biking weekend on the annual calendar, with the party scene providing appeal for groups of mates and riders’ families as well.

Held at Mt Buller Victoria from 12-14 March 2016 the event will feature 14 MTB events, including the opportunity to ride with MTB Hall of Fame Member Hans Rey.

Hans Rey is considered the world’s leader in extreme mountain biking. Along with numerous other race accomplishments, he’s a three-time trials riding world champion, as well as a showman, a stuntman and an adventure mountain biker.

Hans has travelled the world extensively; riding his GT mountain bikes over and through areas previously considered unrideable however hasn’t been to Australia since winning the Australian Open Trials in 1992.

“I really look forward to come to Australia in March for the GT Bike Buller Festival at Mt Buller… I’m ready to come shred with my GT Force so keep the Fosters cold and the kangaroos off the trails… see you then,” said Hans Rey from California.

Competitors at the GT Bike Buller Festival presented by Fox will have the unique opportunity to meet and ride with Hans Rey along the Alpine Epic Trail on Saturday 12 March.

This is a 40km participation ride (not a race) where there’ll be opportunities stop to check out the views, enjoy a bit of lunch and be wowed by this Epic Trail, which includes 1,250m of climbing but 2,200m of descending along a mixture of single track and double track.

There’s a limit to just 50 riders for the Hans Rey Epic Trail Ride so all riders will get the chance to chat with Hans, to ask him about his riding and hear some of the stories he’s accumulated during a riding career that has seen him visit over 70 countries and secure approx. 350 magazine covers!

The ride will finish with the most incredible descent, followed by a couple of beers by the river and then a shuttle bus for you and your bike back to Mt Buller.

In addition to the Hans Rey Epic Trail Ride there will also be an “Evening with Hans” on the Sunday Night that all competitors and supporters can come along to. This will include a presentation on his career and the places he has travelled, and a Q&A and a signing session.

There is plenty of other action to be had over the festival weekend with so many MTB events on offer plus a full social calendar with spectator events, MTB movies, bike expo, and a huge food, wine and music festival.

Riders are able to enter just one event or many events, or enter a specific combination of Gravity Race or Cross Country Races to get a combined race discount.
