Perskindol Swiss Epic: Stage 1 via Matt Page
What's it like inside the Perskindol Swiss Epic Flow race? Take a look at Stage 1, from Matt Page's point of view.
Last week, we threw Welsh mountain biker Matt Page into a team with South African mountain biker Stu Spies, for the 6 day Perskindol Swiss Epic. The Swiss Epic just finished its second edition, and it’s a unique event that combines two formats.
The classic Epic format sees riders ride the full distance over the 6 days, climbing for every metre they descend. They Flow category still has a considerable amount of climbing – but about half that of the Epic. Riders use shuttles and ski lifts to gain access, and ride longer descents and more technical terrain than the Epic racers at some points – although they are often on the same piece of trail. Each day is broken up into many stages, and while many are just descents, it’s not all of them. You have to be able to climb as well.
This footage was shot on stage one, travelling from Verbier to Leukerbad – and it was filmed on the new TomTom camera.
