FIRST LOOK: Trek Boone 9 Disc

A road bike? No, a cyclocross bike, with so many features that have come from mountain bikes.

Shock horror! Drop handlebars! One of the other bikes in our collection for review for our upcoming issue is one of the cyclocross super bikes from Trek – the Boone 9 Disc.

It’s full carbon, it’s had an IsoSpeed decoupler since before there was a social media campaign about it, it has a sleek Ultegra 6800 group set, tubeless wheels and hydraulic disc brakes. The cables are sealed and internal so you can hose it down, dry it and park it away.

Trek Boone

Cyclocross is an interesting sport. Some might say confusing, some might say cool. It is what you make it, but it’s hard. It demands a lot. And the Boone certainly looks like it would deliver on being a ‘cross boss and a whole lot more.
