Rained out on thursday evening, the Rockshox Pumptrack Challenge got it’s time in the spotlight on friday under lights and in a packed in crowd. The handlebar and wheel noise makers were out, there was even the first mexican wave in Crankworx history worldwide but at the heart of it all was some neck and neck racing. Both the men and womens field were full to the brim with freeriders, downhillers, 4x specialists and plenty of new age enduro bandits. After plenty of tight racing it was Joost Wichman who edged out local Kiwi and fan favourite Keegan Wright for the win. Whilst Thomas Lemoine took third ahead of Walker Shaw in the small final. In pro Women Anneke Beerten snuck ahead of Jill Kintner and in the small final it was New Zealand / Brazil duke out with Sarah Walker taking third ahead of Luana Oliviera.
