Kona ambassador and 2007 Elite 24hr National Champion Andrew Bell, and 2013 World 24hr Champion Jess Douglass, will join 500 eager mountain bike riders at the sixth edition of the Bike Buller MTB Festival presented by Kona this weekend at Mt Buller.

“Bike Buller is an event I have been wanting to do for a few years now; It’s such a great venue for mountain biking and the trails just keep getting better year to year.” Bell said.

Over a four-year period (2004-2007), Bell won just about every 12 and 24 hour mountain bike race across the country. However nowadays with work and family his main priority, it’s all about just having a good time on the mountain bike.

“I still love to get out and do the odd event to have a go. Riding with mates and having a good time on the trails are where it’s at for me – so more social and less competitive.”

With Jess Douglas returning again for 2014, all eyes will be on the World Champion in the women’s premier category with how she will attack the different stages and style of racing.

Mt Buller’s world class mountain biking tracks will see riders hit-up a series of stages ranging from a variety of cross country (XC), all mountain courses, the popular Super D style races, and the new Pump Track Pursuit.

The unique event is regarded by many as one of Australia’s most revolutionary MTB events, and provides mountain bike riders of all abilities and their families a massive weekend of bikes, single track, fresh air, activities and partying.

Competitors can attack the weekend as a stage race doing all races, or chose to do one or more of the stages separately. Plus there’s a kid’s ride included on the Saturday.

Full event schedule is on the website, with online entries closing 9am (AESDT) Thursday 6th March, 2014 at www.bikebuller.com.
