Mt Buller has announced an exciting addition to the 2014 summer downhill mountain biking offering, with a shuttle service for the downhill mountain bike trails set to begin in February following the end of the chairlift season. The shuttle, operated by Blue Dirt Mountain Biking, will commence operation on February 15 and run each weekend until the end of April, providing downhill mountain bikers’ transport up the mountain beyond the downhill lifted season between Boxing Day and the end of January.
The introduction of the Downhill Mountain Bike Shuttle is great news for downhillers, who in recent years have only been able to use the trails when the Northside Express Chairlift has been in operation during the limited chairlift season. Buses with bike trailers will operate each Saturday and Sunday from February 15 until the end of April, transporting riders and their bikes from the bottom of the trails to the starting points at the top.
Director of Marketing Sales and Business Development for Mt Buller Mt Stirling Resort Management Amber Gardner, said the service has enabled Mt Buller to extend the downhill service, which would normally stop and the end of January, to the end of April. “The Downhill Mountain Bike Shuttle is designed to assist downhillers to get from the bottom of the trails back up to the top, enabling them to spend more time riding. The downhill shuttle is the newest addition to Mt Buller’s extensive list of world class mountain biking facilities which we are working to continuously develop.”
“We hope that this service gets the support of the downhill community so that we can continue to offer it over future summers.”
The Downhill Mountain Bike Shuttle will commence on Saturday February 15, and operate 9am-4pm each weekend until the end of April. A one-day pass costs $50 per person and a weekend pass is $90. Bookings are recommended and can be made via Blue Dirt Mountain Biking.
