Kempsey announced as venue for Rollercoaster Gravity Enduro Series Round
Rocky Trail Entertainment have just announced Kempsey on the NSW North Coast as the venue for Round 2 of their Rollercoaster Gravity Enduro NSW State Series in June 2014.
Rocky Trail Entertainment have just announced Kempsey on the NSW North Coast as the venue for Round 2 of their Rollercoaster Gravity Enduro NSW State Series in June 2014. Kempsey completes the four Rollercoaster race series, which will kick off in Ourimbah on 27th January with Round 1. The State Championship event will be held on the Flow Trail at Thredbo in April and the final race will round up the series at the Glenworth Valley Adventure Park on the Central Coast near Gosford.
Gravity enduro racing is the new kid on the block of mountain bike events and with its roots in the French Alps and North American high-country it has been gaining traction fast in Australia as well. Rocky Trail Entertainment have created a flagship series in answer to this latest mountain bike racing trend and in 2014 continue to take riders to some of the most popular mountain bike trails in NSW. Their Rollercoaster gravity enduro races have become overwhelmingly popular with cross-country and downhill riders alike in recent months, united by their passion for exploring trails, racing exhilarating and fast descents and spending a great day out on their bikes together. The events combine neutral uphills, shuttled or by bike, with fast and flowy timed descents.
Kempsey completing the venue map for 2014
The event organisers from Rocky Trail said that they had been scouting locations across NSW to complete their venues for the 2014 Rollercoaster series for some time and when the Kempsey Macleay Off Road Cyclists invited them to stage Round 2 on their home track about 45 minutes north of Port Macquarie on the North Coast, they gladly accepted.
“Our club trails at Kempsey are not downhill or XC tracks reworked to suit, but have been purpose-built for gravity enduro racing and ready to go for a state round”, said Kempsey club official Jason Shelley and that a lot of riders from the Newcastle, NSW North Coast and South East QLD regions had visited club events so far.
That the Rocky Trail crew have good noses for new venues they have proofed over the past five years by hosting inaugural events on new mountain bike trails across the state, including the Enduro Trail at The Australian Botanic Garden, Mt Annan, which is now home of their JetBlack 24 Hour race, the unique trails at James Estate Winery in the Upper Hunter Valley, where they will host their JetBlack 12 Hour event in July 2014 as well as the new Flow Trail at Thredbo, where the Rollercoaster Gravity Enduro State Championships were held earlier this year as the first race on the newly groomed trails.
“We are looking forward to putting another new venue on the map of Australian gravity enduro racing and we will offer a great variety of tracks – from North to South”, said Martin Wisata, race director at Rocky Trail. “We like to take our riders to new locations and will feature some favourites of course as well”, he added.
