AMB Photographer of the Year - WINNER
We reveal the overall winner of the 'AMB Photography Awards - presented by Shimano'.
We received hundreds and hundreds of amazing entries for the 'AMB Photography Awards – presented by Shimano', celebrating all that is awesome about our sport.
Our three judges – AMB editor Mike Blewitt, in-house designer and photographer Rob Conroy and global MTB snapper Tim Bardlsey-Smith – had by far the hardest job in choosing the AMB Photographer of the Year.
To be eligible for the prestigious title, a portfolio of four images had to be submitted covering each of the individual categories: Speed, Skill, Lifestyle and Adventure.
In the end, Tasmania’s Simon McLaine took out the top prize of $3,000 plus a Shimano M 9050 XTR Di2 groupset for his awesome portfolio of photographs which were all taken in the breathtaking landscape of British Columbia in Canada.
Trailbuilder McLaine, just 22, beat a host of established professional photographers thanks to his creativity and technical excellence with the camera.
“This prize is a milestone in my career and something I'll hold close to me forever. I can't believe it’s happened – I feel honoured,” he said.
“British Columbia is just amazing and the calibre of riders here is also awesome, so with those two things combined the opportunities come up for some pretty amazing adventures and some pretty spectacular imagery.”
