FIRST LOOK: fi'zi:k Luna X5 women's saddle
Fi:zi:k have brought a new women's mountain bike saddle out, the Luna X5. Let's see how she goes!
Fi’zi:k’s new Luna X5 saddle hits the shelves this October 2017. Part of new range of saddles from the ergonomics specialists at Fi’zi:k, the Luna X5 is designed specifically for women and for off-road riding.
The Luna X is a flat saddle 280mm long and 141mm wide with a narrowish nose relative to a wide seat area. There’s a cut-out section, reinforced Microtex sides to prevent scuffing, and a synthetic, Microtex finish. The saddle itself is designed around a central section of nylon-reinforced carbon (designed for stiffness) paired with elastomer side panels (designed to flex with impact and movement). The saddle also features Fi’zi:k’s corrosion-resistant S-Alloy rails, and tips the scales at a reasonable, but not feathery, 255g (which we confirmed at 262g).
The Luna is an addition the women's range that already includes the Vesta, but it's narrower and more slim-line, with a smaller back that should make it easier to get behind the seat when mountain biking.
We’ll be putting the Luna X5 through its paces in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for the full review in our next issue.
