Is the Lazer Cage the safest full-face helmet?
The new Lazer Cage full-face helmet carries Lazer's KinetiCore protection, for rotational and direct impact protection with low weight.
Lazer have just released the Cage, their all-new full-face helmet designed for the demands of modern enduro racing and downhill. And while the Lazer Cage will provide thorough protection for gravity racing, it also suits enduro riding, eMTB riding and trail riding. The Cage is said to offer not just the safety benefits of a 5-star Virginia Tech safety rating, but low weight and great ventilation as well.
The Lazer Cage is the first full-face helmet to carry a 5-star (the top rating) classification from Virginia Tech, and uses the same KinetiCore technology that Lazer has used in the Jackal trail helmet.

The KinetiCore structure is a major part of the low weight, great ventilation and safety rating. Think of it as a crumple zone design, where the EPS foam is designed for each shell size and helmet with areas that let air flow through, but can also twist, break off and crumple in a crash. This spreads the force over a longer period which reduces the severity of the impact, and can absorb the rotational forces which also helps lessen the impact and chance of concussion.
The KinetiCore design means you don't need to rely on a slip liner like MIPS, so it reduces the weight, and the occlusion of the helmets vents. There are generous pads to wick sweat away, so you have a comfortable helmet with top safety features, low weight and excellent ventilation.
Other features on the Lazer Cage
The Lazer cage has a magnetic buckle for easy on/off, and there is a secure goggle strap area on the rear of the helmet.
The shell is reinforced with carbon fiber, which helps keep it together in a huge crash. And the helmet is ASTM certified for downhill racing, and is compatible with neck braces. The Lazer Cage also comes with two pad sets for a customised fit.
