Merino wool is the secret to the comfort of these Giro HRc+ socks

In the greater world of cycling, socks seem to have a full tilt attack on being the place to go crazy with colours and designs. I’m not one to judge that, but I would suggest making sure first of all that your feet are in the right socks if you want to be comfortable on the bike. Cotton sports socks and footy socks often don’t cut it when you’re using cycling shoes made for thinner socks, or you’re riding in a variety of conditions, with river crossings, hot temperatures and cool starts.
The Giro HRc+ Merino Wool sock is a bit of a winner for riders looking for extra comfort, and good looks on the bike. Giro have designed the socks with a compressive fit, meaning they stay up really well and assist with arch support. Their 7” cuff is an in-vogue length, and the Merino wool is very fine, so it’s not hot or itchy. There is nylon reinforcing in the wear areas for a long life, and I’ve got woolen socks from other manufacturers who use a compressive weave – but they don’t feel or stay in place like these do.
And colours? I tested the blue model, and you can get purple, lime, grey and black – and match or clash with your other clothes as you desire. I wasn’t fussed on that though, I was just happy to have a comfortable sock for all-day rides that I never had to think about.
