The Airmatic range is 100%’s mid-level trail option designed for all riding conditions. At $129.99 they are much more budget friendly option than their Celium siblings however the quality is still high, just made with less lightweight materials.
Features and fit
The Airmatic shorts appear well constructed straight out of the packaging, with zippers and buckles that are beefy enough to withstand hard wear but still slimline enough to not be noticeable. The shorts have three zipped pockets, all big enough to fit my phone, which is impressive and practical. With years of experience making mountain bike shorts, 100% have got the fit bang on, loose enough to be free moving, yet nice and slim to avoid snagging on the seat or frame. Or trail-side foliage!
On the trail
The fabric has the feeling of durability which had me worried about whether they would breathe well, but these problems on the trail were not noticeable with the fabric’s wicking and breathability keeping me cool on a hot and sweaty summer’s day. The large pockets excelled, loaded up with snacks for a long day of pedalling, they kept contents secure and close to the leg, not flopping around with each pedal stroke. Pockets without zippers have no place on mountain bike shorts so it’s nice to see all three here with zippers. On the bike there was no excessive riding up of the shorts giving no punter gap showing between my knee guards and the shorts. Given the ample storage and excellent comfort and durability (not crash tested), it all makes the 100% Airmatic shorts a great choice for long days out pedalling.
