TESTED: Rocday Flow gloves
Need a light, comfortable glove that's been designed by mountain bikers to give you everything you need and nothing you don't? Maybe the Rocday Flow is for you.
Words: Mitchell Wheatley
Rocday Clothing out of Poland are relative newcomers to the mountain bike apparel market, an idea born overlooking a town on the French-Swiss border, with a beer in hand after an epic days riding. The vision; a brand created by riders with a focus on comfort, feel and style – on and off the bike. This is echoed on the Rocday website, which proudly states “We are mountain bike riders”.
On test is the Flow glove, a breathable long finger glove most suited for mild to warm days and lighter trail riding, perfect for the AMB100 marathon race and around the trails of Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
The Japanese CLARINO ® palm includes a thin layer of foam, offering great comfort and durability, while silicon prints on the index and ring fingers gives extra brake lever feel (and are smartphone friendly). The short cut, velcro-less design makes for an easy pull-on / pull-off action, with a terry cloth thumb to wipe sweat from your brow on warmer rides.
The medium size fits similar to other major brands, yet had no excess material around the fingertips and has a premium feel around the palm. After a few rides, I did experience some slippage in the left glove, possibly due to my riding style (or my left hand is slightly smaller than my right), as I’ve experienced this previously in gloves without a velcro closure.
That said, if you’re looking for a glove that gives all day comfort for XC, XCM or Enduro-style riding, the Rocday Flow glove could be just what you’re looking for.
