The 2022 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships are here, and riders and teams are arriving in Les Gets, France, for one of the biggest races of the year. Riders have also been out to do the track walk for Downhill, while XCO riders have also been practicing.

Our photographer Jack Fletcher snuck around the pits, and got a glimpse at Troy Brosnan's chromed up Canyon Sender CFR. The whole team will be running chrome finished bikes with their own customisations for the World Championships.

Riders also have their mechanic's names on the top tube. It's a nice touch and a reminder to the rest of us of how closely the top riders work with their mechanics. Not just at the big races, but before the season kicks off. It's a really important relationship and any victories the riders have also belong to the team behind them.

Troy's bike has a few interesting additions that we can spot from the images. First up are what look to be new calipers – likely a new SRAM Code caliper, but they're not marked as such. The Black Box protector to keep mud out is also pretty nifty!

You can get a closer look at the guard from the top side. We've heard the top of the caliper is more closed than before, and pads are fitted from below. This may well create a stiffer caliper – but we're just guessing at this stage. The calipers are mounted to current levers.

You'll also see that Brosnan is running some other BlackBox items, like the 7-speed SRAM shifter. What's so BlackBox about it? We'll never know everything but the carbon blade as grip paper for… grip. We'd factor that it would have the fastest engagement possible and likely a reasonably stiff spring to prevent any miss shifts when it gets wild.

Looking to the cranks, there's more grip tape to add some more security and tactile feel against the cranks. The SRAM XO cranks also have an O-Chain device. This spider damps the pedal kick back, but nothing like what the WRP Centrehub does.

If we look closely, we can also spy a somewhat unmarked DT Swiss rim. Yes, it's DT Swiss – but what model?

After injury at National Champs at Maydena this year, Troy has had to recover and then get back to strength and speed. Which he showed he has done at Mont Sainte Anne. Could this be the fastest bike in the world on Sunday?
