Smith and Meier-Smith dominated the ultra-physical Flow trail today in seasonably rough conditions.

The sun rose late this morning as a typically thick blanket of fog covered Thredbo’s trails. As the moisture settled, the conditions were premium and the Pros settled into their practice runs. But sure enough, the summer sun showed itself and with it the dust, ruts, and loose rocks. By the time the juniors had completed their race runs, the track was back to its usual status: rough. Don’t let the name fool you – Thredbo’s “flow” trail is full of deep holes, braking bumps, and leg-burning straights. Holding speed through the endless corners is easier said than done.

After coming so close in the All Mountain, Luke Meier-Smith claimed the men’s Flow Motion Cup. On his heels was the in-form Ryan Gilchrist in second and Connor Fearon in third. In the women’s field, Ellie Smith claimed another festival win, followed by XC lordess Zoe Cuthbert and Thredbo favourite Tegan Malloy. With this win, Smith has edged a step closer to claiming the overall Queen of Cannonball.

Tomorrow the action is set to culminate with the Australian Open Downhill finals. Stay tuned for live updates across our social media channels!
