Dust trails on Dusty trails - Bright DH Champs day 2
Competitors armour up for day 2 of the Downhill National Champions in Bright, Victoria. Nick Waygood is on location capturing the goods for your feeds!
Practice kicked off this morning from 9, with trucks and buses running until the later hours of the evening. There were some lengthy waiting lines during practice, which sped up once individual group practice started.
Riders started gaining confidence with their lines, whilst the track conditions became marginally worse.
Sian A’hern comments on the track conditions today, saying
“The track has definitely gotten rougher, however the lines are more defined and ridden in. There’s still heaps of exposed rock and roots, and a layer of dust which makes having grip difficult, but definitely loving the track!”
Seeding kicked off with plenty of drama, with several crashing out hard. Connor Fearon split open his elbow in practice, but still came down with a second place behind Dean Lucas in Elite mens. Jack Moir and Troy Brosnan both had difficulties in their runs, with a crash and a front flat.
Kye A’hern smoked the field in Junior mens, coming down 4.75 seconds ahead of Pat Butler in seeding.
In elite womens, Tracey Hannah showed us how it’s done by taking the lead by 22 seconds ahead of Sian Ahern, with Tegan Molloy trailing close behind in third. Danni Beecroft suffered an unfortunate crash, but hopes to be in the running for tomorrows racing.
PREDICTIONS
With track conditions deteriorating, it’s still anyones game as to who claims the top spot.
In Elite mens, Jack Moir has on fire at previous rounds, he has a good running for first place. With Mick Hannah in the mix, and motivated to get the ‘Hannah double’, Jack definitely has some serious competition pushing him to go faster. Troy Brosnan, Connor Fearon, and Dean Lucas are all also very serious competition. The top 5 will be tight.
My predictions for Elite mens are:
- Troy Brosnan
- Mick Hannah
- Jack Moir
- Connor Fearon
- Dean Lucas
In Elite womens, Tracey Hannah proves unstoppable with her legendary skill, but Sian A’hern is hungry for a win after breaking her wrist at Thredbo Cannonball Festival and missing out on most of the National series. She’ll have some tough competition for her though, with Tegan Molloy also looking on pace.
My Predictions for Elite womens are:
- Tracey Hannah
- Sian A’hern
- Tegan Molloy
