Hot or not! Downhill Qualifications

With four hours of rain the World Championships downhill course became a slip'n'slide. Qualifications are done, but can we read much into the results?

After practice for the Downhill World Championships at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, the qualification runs are what really count. Who looks fast in practice may not be who looks fast in qualifying, and even then some riders might keep some race lines quiet.

But in Canada, early morning practice turned upside down when it started bucketing rain for a solid 4 hours.

All DH Qualifiers were in the rain so it was a topsy turvy affair, Greg Minnaar was disqualified for running off track, Danny Hart and Myriam Nicole made the most sense of it.

Overall it was really inconsistent as many riders just didn’t try as there are no points (unlike in a World Cup) and everyone was already guaranteed to ride on Sunday anyway. It was a bit of a non-event, so Sunday will be where the action lies.

You can find the qualification times for Junior and elite men and women online.
