AMB welcomes Anna Beck as new Editor!

Long-standing editor Mike Blewitt is hanging up the helmet, as Anna Beck moves into the role of Editor.

AMB Magazine 01.05.2024

After almost 11 years, Mike Blewitt is stepping down as Editor of Australian Mountain Bike, with a familiar face stepping into the role of Editor and a fresh face for AMB's Digital Manager.

Having taken on the role of Editor in the middle of 2013, Mike oversaw the growth of the AMBmag.com.au website, social media channels and video content. Mike started with AMB as Next Media took on the title in 2013, having already contributed to the magazine for a year.

“I have had an incredible time working on Australian Mountain Bike for over a decade. I was able to share my passion for riding, travel and events with mountain bikers around the country. I thoroughly enjoyed working with the long-standing content creators to grow the service journalism elements of the title, and to build on the content marketing.”

“I'm honoured to have worked with so many dedicated riders, writers, photographers, videographers, trail builders and event promoters across the nation and beyond. There have been way more fun days on bikes working on stories than stressful days on deadlines, and I have a lifetime of friendships and memories from the 11 years with AMB. Thanks to everyone who has picked up a magazine, subscribed, scrolled our feed or clicked on an article – I really appreciated everyone who has come along for the ride.”

With AMB moving to the outdoor sports media house Adventure Entertainment as of August 2023, it is also a fitting time for the title to have fresh leadership, with a split editorial role to cover the ever evolving mountain bike media space.

Anna Beck has been contributing to AMB for over a decade, and has in-depth experience across mountain bike coaching and racing, and just about every aspect of spending a life off-road on two wheels.

“Throughout my life I have run towards challenges, and as such I am looking forward to heading into the editor role of AMB when I finish maternity leave. It won’t be an easy feat; Mike has left huge shoes to fill with his knowledge and ability to produce huge amounts of quality content over the past 10+ years.”

“AMB has long been an important resource for mountain bikers both freshly minted and rusted-on, and I am looking forward to delivering content that showcases interesting voices and awe-inspiring escapes in addition to the reviews and informative pieces that make AMB what we know and love.”

Supporting Anna in digital content management will be Max Hobson, another Queensland bike rider who has read and followed AMB as he grew up. Max will be AMB's Digital Manager, looking after the AMBmag.com.au website and social media channels.

'I have been an avid mountain biker for around 10 years, having started from a passion for adventure to now racing multiple cycling disciplines at the highest level in the sport. I've been collecting the Australian Mountain Bike Magazine since I was in primary school, so to move into a social media management position is very exciting for me.'

Adventure Entertainment CEO and Publisher Toby Ryston-Pratt has been instrumental in making sure the new editorial team are a best fit for AMB and how the mountain bike title fits in with the breadth of Adventure Entertainment's outdoors media studio.

“Mike has made an outstanding contribution to AMB and we wish him all the best with his next role, while looking forward to the occasional guest contribution! With Anna and Max at the helm we are excited about the next chapter for AMB and how it fits in with all our favourite outdoor sports titles here at Adventure Entertainment.”

Anna and Max look set to herald a bright new future for AMB, make sure you're along for the ride!
