The THULE Gravitate Mountain Bike Festival will kick-off Thursday night October 2nd with the ‘Jungle Dual Slalom’ – a spectator’s favourite that’s run under lights bringing the jungle canopy to life, and finsh on Monday October 6th with a big-air, dirt-jump-jam. The rest of the festival weekend will unfold with:
• Friday Oct 3rd’s day/night ‘Pony Express’ will see riders team-up to compete in a team’s event. Later in the evening, spectators will be treated to the ‘Pump Track Challenge’.
• Saturday Oct 4th, the Smithfield Mountain Bike Park will open up to the young and old with social rides, skills sessions and a Junior Development Clinic.
• Sunday Oct 5th, the popular ‘Dawn-to-Dusk Downhill Tour‘ of Cairns will be back, whilst hardcore cross-country enthusiasts can choose to test their endurance in the ‘FN Epic Race’ at Davis Creek, run by the Mareeba Mountain Bike Club.
Smithfield Mountain Bike Park has had an epic start to the year, hosting Round 2 of the UCI MTB World Cup. Of the weekend, Gravitate Event Director Craig Nissen said, “We’re excited to have riders from all around Australia descend on the Cairns to showcase our world class trails in such a unique and iconic location.”

If you can’t make this long weekend, then the following weekend holds a National Gravity Enduro round, and the weekend after that the Crocodile Trophy starts in Cairns. It’s really the place to be this October.
