The brief for the Chickens x Morvélo CityCross was to bridge a gap where cyclocross leaves and MTB  begins, mixed with the speed of road and the playfulness of a BMX. The same criteria that went into forming the innovative CityCross race series.

A bike that was designed for speed but built for the abuse of hurtling down steps, over jumps and down drops. Urban CX at it’s most exciting. And here is the result, blending traditional cyclocross with modern 29er MTB.

As for the appearance. After reading Rad Rides, they wanted it to have an essence of some of the 1980’s BMXs they so loved and Jon wanted to showcase his quality workmanship by keeping the filet brazing exposed.  The happy mix is the black and gold beauty below with the stencilled graphics colour matched to the brazing. Showtime!

One of the UK happenings has been the collaberation detailed below. Jon is a pretty cool niche frame builder from the UK who has built a CX bike specifically for fun rather than the usual lung bursting efforts we see at a CX race.

Essentially it’s a cross between a CX bike and a modern 29er. Check out the photos, I’m sure you’ll agree it’s a thing of beauty. I’ve put the link into a little article about Jon at the bottom, he’s something of a character.
