The Fox Float 32 hit the market with some nice big legs, 32mm to be precise, and easy to understand external adjustments. The fork has been through quite a few changes since it was launched over 10 years ago, and the 2016 Factory edition we’ve got to play with has some great improvements.
We’ve already outlined the changes to the Fox line up for 2016, but having one of the Float 32 Factory 29″ units to test for next issue is nice too.
The 100mm fork is suited to cross-country applications, and the FIT4 cartridge helps you get the most out of that travel. These days, 100mm isn’t that much. The FIT4 cartridge changes the Climb, Trail, Descend settings of FIT3, replacing them with Open, Medium, Firm. The Open setting has 22 stages of compression damping adjustment, which should allow you to fine tune the compliance of the fork without resorting to changing the air pressure from your ideal setting.
The idea is that the suspension will then be better suited for weight shifts, something that the Trail setting was previously used for on the CTD setup.
Rebound damping remains the same, but Fox have introduced a dual air chamber, with a negative spring to reduce initial sticion and provide a really supple stroke to the start of the travel.
We’ll have a full review of the forks in Issue 148. It’s on sale on June 6th. Don’t miss it, subscribe!
