FIRST LOOK: Salted Carbon Sandfly

Salted fatbikes are designed right here in Australia - actually in the new millionaire's haven of Blacktown! They're pretty dialled for Australian conditions - so we've got one reviewed in Issue 149.

And then there were four… we’ve got four bikes reviewed in Issue 149 (out in August) that all carry a bit of a theme. You’ve heard of N+1, right? No doubt many of your have tried to use it to justify another bike purchase.

It’s a basic principle that captures the desire for a new bike. N is the number you currently have, and of course you would always like to add one more. So it seems fitting that a fatbike is also in the review. With a cyclocross bike, a downhill bike and a singlespeed, there are four fairly niche bikes that covers some of the choices you might come up with if you could wheel one more bike into the shed…

Salted Carbon Bluto

The Salted Carbon Sandfly is a light weight carbon hardtail, designed right here in Australia. It’s agile, capable of taking some seriously fat rubber (5 inches!) and can be bought as a frame or with builds from about $4000.

Salted fatbike Macbeth

We put fatbike aficionado Adam Macbeth on it, but you’ll need to grab the next issue to read what he thought.
