Trip computers have always been a useful tool for mountain bikers.

Trip computers have always been a useful tool for mountain bikers. Knowing how far you’ve travelled, what your average speed was, or how long it took you to get around your local training loop can be incredibly valuable information for those who like to progress their riding. For those who like to dig a little deeper, information such as your cadence (RPM), heart rate and power output can really take your training to the next level. But for the less competition-focussed riders out there, in its most pure form, using a trip computer to track your ride data can simply be a rewarding way to track the km’s you’ve ridden. These days, GPS computers have improved the humble bike computer beyond its original wired form. Wireless is the way of the future, and GPS technology has made it possible for your computer to accurately track your position without need for any on-board speed sensors or spoke magnets.

Having recently announced their foray into the GPS market, bicycle accessory manufacturer Lezyne are taking it to the Garmins and the Magellans with a slick range of compact GPS computers that are designed to offer ease of use and powerful performance. The Lezyne Mini GPS is the smallest of the 3-tier range, and it also comes in with the smallest pricetag.

“The elegant Mini GPS is compact, powerful and ideal for the cycling minimalist. Simply turn it on, press start and go for a ride. Essential ride data is presented on a sharp, easy to read, semi-customizable display and logged for later analysis. The display also features auto-scrolling ride info, custom lap presets and an optional auto start/stop function. An optimized GPS recording system stores up to 100 hours of data and can be easily accessed via flash drive technology. Rides are saved as .fit files for cross-compatibility with third-party interfaces like Strava™ and TrainingPeaks®. Housed in a stylish aluminum bezel, the computer features a simple three-button operation and is micro USB rechargeable for up to 10 hours of runtime.” – Lezyne
