KRUSH create Grassroots Scholarships

Grassroots Scholarships have been announced for Australian youth - to be presented at Sea Otter!

A few select brands in the Australian mountain biking industry have banded together to provide Grassroots Scholarships for our developing youth. Cycling has had an unprecedented surge inpopularity, growing in some cities by more than 270 percent. Recreational riding around Australia has seen major growth with world class bike trails developed across all states.

This influx of riders brings a generation of newathletesand exciting new potential for the sport. Cycling events have seen huge demand for participation, especially in youth age groups. With the Sea Otter Classic now launching as Sea Otter Australia this October, there will be something for fans of all disciplines, ages and abilities in Canberra’s Stromlo Forest Park from 1-4 October.

KRUSH have teamed up with Sea Otter Australia to launch the KRUSH Grassroots Scholarship Program. This is supported by Bikecorp, FIST Handwear and Pushys.

The Program will offer support for developing Australian riders, with a packge of over $8000 worth of bike car product, store credit, coaching and rider mentoring plus financial support for travel and race entry. 

Exclusive one-on-one mentoring sessions will be lead by ambassadors; trail builder, Junior National Champion and Canyon Team Rider Baxter Maiwald; and 8x BMX & Mountain Bike World Champion and 2x Olympian Caroline Buchanan. Coaching sessions will be offered courtesy of Gravity Oz founder Shannon Rademaker. Shannon holds the highest level of professional coaching accreditation in Australia as a PMBIA L3 advanced athletec oach with over 15 years experience.

Scholarships will be awarded to two junior Australian riders (1 x female and 1 x male), over the course of the Sea Otter Australia weekend in October. Successful applicants will be selected by scholarship ambassadors and industry representatives, based on a combination of competitive race results, sportsmanship and the ability to demonstrate enthusiasm, ambition and dedication via the application process.The program will also offer Encouragement Awards to 2x promising young riders to support their growth and development in the sport, valued at over $1000 each.

To apply, applicants need to be aged between 12–19,and be entered into at least one discipline (Mountain, Gravel or Road) at Sea Otter Australia. To review the full application criteria and register CLICK HERE.
