On Sunday 28th of February, the Murrindindi Cycle Club will be hosting Australia’s first marathon Super D. The event will be held at Lake Mountain resort, just 2 hours outside of Melbourne near the town of Marysville. Sitting at an altitude of 1433m, Lake Mountain has some stunning alpine singletrack on offer for those who enjoy raw and technical trails, with plenty of granite and snowgums for you to pick your way through. Called the ”Lake Mountain Super G”, this marathon Super D event will showcase brand new single track that begins at the Lake Mountain summit and finishes at the Lake Mountain ticket office. The course is 12 kilometers long, and features 620 meters of descending and 200 meters of climbing. Riders competing for a podium position will need a combination of technical handling skills and pedalling fitness to do well. For everyone else, the race is simply an opportunity to enjoy this beautiful environment and the wicked trails around Lake Mountain.
