Mt Stirling, is excited to announce the arrival of Fat Bikes during the 2015 snow season. Mt Stirling is conducting a trial introduction to Fat Bikes on weekends during June and September and it’s an exciting opportunity for mountain bike enthusiasts to get out on the trails this winter.

The trial run will only be held between 9am-4pm on weekends in June and September to help Mt Stirling Resort Management determine whether the opportunity for Fat Bikes can be further developed within the resort. Visitors are encouraged to experience it first hand and provide feedback to help Resort Management in making an informed decision on whether to continue the program in future.

Mt Stirlings Gillian Dobson said that “Mt Stirling is a fantastic place for visitors to come and experience it’s natural beauty in both summer and winter, and we’re excited to be able to offer more activities to our guests during the snow season.

“Mt Stirling offers people a really unique mountain experience as it is untouched by development. The trial run of Fat Bikes will give riders the opportunity to explore Mt Stirling by bike, taking in some of the most amazing scenery, all in a safe and fun environment” said Gillian.

The areas available for the use of Fat Bikes will be restricted to the Circuit Road from Telephone Box Junction (TBJ) to King Saddle and the Circuit Road from TBJ to Howqua Gap (condition dependent). Any other additional areas may be offered at the discretion of the Ski Patrol Director.

Riders will need to check in with the Ski Patrol Director at TBJ to identify which part of the Circuit Road is available for use on each permitted day, and Fat Bikes used on Mt Stirling must have a minimum tyre tread width of 9.7cm.
