National Champs head to Maydena, Tasmania
Mountain Bike Australia have announced that Maydena Bike Park will host the National Mountain Bike Championships in 2021 and 2022.
In exciting news, Mountain Bike Australia (MTBA) have announced that Maydena Bike Park will host the National Mountain Bike Championships for Cross-Country, Downhill, Pump Track, E-Bike, Adaptive Cross-Country and Trials.
MTBA CEO Shane Coppin said the 2021 event will include a week-long racing schedule which will bring mountain bike enthusiasts from across the country.
"This year is exciting for many reasons with the national championships event a first under the AusCycling banner and also a first for the Maydena Bike Park. The Maydena trails are world class and I'm sure the riders cannot wait to get back racing at that high level on these challenging and demanding trails."
"We have had a great relationship with the team at Maydena Bike Park which hosted the 2019 Gravity Enduro National Championships and are confident they will again deliver an exceptional event."
The 2021 event will also include a Marquee National Cup Gravity Enduro round, on 16th-17th January, the weekend prior to the National Championships.
Maydena Bike Park Managing Director Simon French is just as stoked with the news.
"We are extremely excited to be hosting the next two National Mountain Bike Championships at Maydena Bike Park. Our team is hard at work preparing brand new race courses for all race formats, which will showcase our stunning rainforest site".
With Maydena Bike Park set to reopen in late September, they will also be unveiling lots of new trails, from family friendly through more commiting.
With Maydena Bike Park situated just 1.5 hours from Hobart airport, the venue will be easy enough for people to get to from around Australia. Each course for the event will feature new trails, and the downhill course will feature 400m of drop, finishing right in the event village.•
