Details of the Shimano Sprint Series have been announced – featuring three elite road criterium events in three different states at the end of this year.

The series starts at the Launceston Cycling Festival in Tasmania on November 12, before continuing at the new Criterium White Bay in NSW on November 18 and then concluding with the Shimano Super Crit in Melbourne on December 17.

Top ten finishers in each race will accumulate points and there are other bonuses on offer before the King and Queen of the Shimano Sprint Series are determined – with both the male and female winner picking up $3,000 for first place overall.

The goal of the series is to bring the best professional and elite cyclists in Australia together to showcase criterium racing in great locations for cycling fans and the general public.

The series will also provide an exciting opportunity for NRS and other cycling sponsors to leverage their investment in cycling and for teams and riders to generate content and media interest across three states.

Lee Turner, president of the St Kilda Cycling Club which organises the Shimano Super Crit, said: “The biggest event just got bigger and we are thrilled to be part of this series. Three massive crits, with all the stars finishing with the Shimano SuperCrit at SKCC. This is now the premier national cycling crit series.”
