Places That Rock: Trails of the unexpected
We have just published our annual travel issue, pulling the ideas from our Places That Rock regular feature into one whole issue.
We have just published our annual travel issue, pulling the ideas from our Places That Rock regular feature into one whole issue. But instead of just laying out what you already know, about great places to ride in Australia and New Zealand – we opted to highlight places that aren’t always in the bright lights of mountain bike magazines.
Aiming to cover ‘trails of the unexpected’, our writers ventured from Kathmandu to Mongolia, and to Sun Valley to Poland, via way of Cape Town.
We explored Wellington and the mountain bike trails that run to the ends of its streets, and sampled some of the finest riding in the Marlborough Sound and in the Nelson/Tasman region. But we also looked around our own backyard, to discover the new trails in the ACT, the expansion of Adelaide’s trail network, and why you shouldn’t rush through Launceston on the way to Hollybank or Derby.
Given it’s summer, we looked at places to break up your drive on the classic east coast route – give yourself some time and pull into mountain bike trails just off the highway.
There’s plenty more, so go grab yourself a copy and get some ideas for this summer or one to come.
