REVIEWED: DHaRCO Tech Tee
I tested the women’s Tech Tee over a few months to see how it would hold up to the daily stresses of travel and riding.
DHaRCO, Australia’s surf-inspired mountain bike clothing brand, bring out a few casual items to complement their range of trail and gravity riding gear. The Tech Tee, made from Dri-Release fabric, is available in both men’s and women’s styles. I tested the women’s Tech Tee over a few months to see how it would hold up to the daily stresses of travel and riding.
Dri-Release is a blend of fabrics that dries four times faster than cotton, doesn’t wrinkle, and has no static cling either. I took three DHaRCO Tech Tees away with me on a long overseas riding trip and subjected them to all the inhumane treatment that went along with it. Apart from the obvious benefits of wearing a quick-drying tee, on the occasions when hand washing was called for, the Tech Tees did dry exceptionally quickly. The only punishment they didn’t withstand was being thrown into an industrial-grade hotel dryer in Austria – the kind that’s made for sterilising linen – one of my Tees came out a little pilled, but nothing serious, and undoubtedly my fault.
The Tech Tee is soft to touch, and the women’s cut is flattering: fitted without feeling clingy. It has a little extra length that’s perfect for riding and for girls who are a little taller than average. I couldn’t wear any other casual t-shirt I own on a ride without revealing most of my lower back, but had absolutely no worries keeping it under wraps in the DHaRCO Tech Tee. Hooray!
A staunchly dedicated jersey and bibs girl, I was surprised to find that I actually enjoyed riding in my Tech Tees, especially in hot weather, when I generally teamed my favourite black ‘J’Adore Rouler’ tee with purple DHaRCO gravity shorts.
There’s also an extensive range of men’s styles and colours.It’s pretty rare to find a t-shirt that looks great, is cool, and comfortable both on and off the bike. I’ll be keeping mine away from industrial grade dryers from now on.
