Shimano unveil PRO Tri-Spoke Clincher
Clincher version of the superfast PRO Tri-Spoke Tubular wheel due in January.
Shimano have announced that their PRO tri-spoke wheel will soon be available as a clincher.
The Tri-Spoke Clincher – designed for time trialling as well as triathletes – uses the same technology trickled down from the tubular version. It has same aerodynamic shape as the Tri-spoke Textreme wheel with a 3K 2×2 twill carbon weave and a wide 65mm deep rim design for optimum aerodynamics, suitable for 25mm clincher tyres.
The PRO Tri-Spoke Tubular wheel is regarded as one of the fastest on the planet, but repairing punctures quickly is simply not possible. Of course, the professionals have team cars or neutral support to help them in the event of a puncture – not a luxury for mere mortals.
Which is where the clincher version of the wheel comes in, offering riders high speed aerodynamics with the practicality of being able to quickly repair punctures on the roadside.
Together with the current PRO Rear Disc Clincher, the new PRO Tri-spoke Clincher wheel completes the full aerodynamic set up for triathletes and testers looking for the elite wheel technology that has helped many world-class athletes achieve the highest-level victories.
The PRO Tri-spoke wheel will be available from January 2018.
