World-renown adventure brand THULE, has today been announced as the major sponsor of the inaugural ‘Bright 24Hr MTB Race’ to be held October 19th & 20th 2013 in the beautiful destination town of Bright, Victoria.
Event organizer Andrew Miller of BASE (Bright Alpine Sporting Events) said THULE has committed to come on board for the next 5 years. “The support we have received from THULE will help grow the event into a major draw card for mountain biking in the region, making the ‘THULE B24’ a ‘must do’ event on the annual MTB calendar,” said Miller.
Known for hosting iconic events such as the Tour of Bright – notorious for selling-out in hours – the ‘THULE B24’ will not only have the great local tracks and the town of Bright as it’s major draw cards, but the event’s distinctive staging area will promise to showcase a uniqueness in 24hr MTB racing not seen anywhere else. And with the choice of roughing-it at the event campsite or going upscale with the local 4-star accommodations, competitors and spectators alike will be treated to all that’s on offer in Bright’s Alpine Country and surrounding region.
THULE Marketing Manager, Scott Randall Smith notes that THULE is ecstatic to be a part of the ‘B24’. “It goes without saying that when the guys at BASE approached us with the concept for the B24, that we didn’t think twice. Bright offers such a fantastic venue for this kind of event, that we simply couldn’t say no.”
Along with the usual categories of a traditional 24Hr MTB race, the crew at BASE will also be introducing a new format called the ‘Esprit de Corps’ that will suit those who enjoy the ‘social side’ of mountain biking and will revolutionize the way 24Hr races are run.
Racing commences at noon on Saturday, October 19. Event entry details and more can be found at: Bright 24hr
