THULE Australia and BASE have confirmed that entries for the 2014 THULE B24 – Bright 24hr MTB Race, being held October 25-26 on the tracks of Bright Victoria, are now open!
Known for hosting iconic events like the ‘Tour of Bright’ and the MTBA Nationals, the ‘THULE B24’ will not only have the town of Bright and it’s great local tracks as the major draw cards, but the event’s distinctive staging area will promise a uniqueness in 24hr MTB racing not seen anywhere else in Australia, making this the nation’s premier 24hr MTB Race. And with the choice of roughing-it at the event campsite or going upscale with any of the local accommodations, competitors will have the opportunity to tailor-make a truly unique weekend for themselves, their mates and their families.
THULE-AU’s Marketing Manager, Scott Randall Smith noted that THULE was fired-up for Year 2 of the ‘B24’.
“Bright offers the best location for a 24hr event. The tracks in Bright are some of the best in the nation and the town is just a short walk from the event campground, making this more than an MTB race, but a great weekend away. Who wouldn’t want to take advantage of having great restaurants, wineries and a micro-brew all within shouting distance of some of Australia’s best mountain bike riding? It’s gonna be a blast!”
Along with the traditional divisions of a 24Hr MTB race – solos, pairs, quads & sixes – the crew at BASE will again offer the ‘Esprit de Corps’ category, built to suit those who enjoy the more ‘social side’ of mountain biking, revolutionizing the way 24Hr races are run.
Of the evolution of the B24, Race Director Andrew Miller says, “Our vision is to build the annual ‘must do’ MTB event, providing a memorable experience for all featuring terrific hand-built single-track trails and an awesome event village and sponsor expo in the heart of the great town of Bright. Hardcore competitors won’t be able to smash out enough laps to satisfy their souls, while the less-skilled or plain ‘socially concerned’ will have a hard time choosing between the lure of the fun riding, the vibe of the event village or the myriad of things to do in Bright.”
Racing commences at noon on Saturday, October 25th. Entry details and more can be found at: http://bright24hr.com.au/
