Tubolight tyre inserts land in Australia
Tubolight claim to offer the light inserts for all disciplines, backed up by race-winning performance.
Tubolight tyre inserts have just arrived in Australia with FE Sports. There are already a bunch of inserts on the market, but Tubolight have a few important extras to back them up. One is having models for gravity, XC/marathon use, road and gravel. And their other claim? They're proven to be the winningest tyre insert and the only one triumphant in all disciplines.
Tubolight have said they tested many different designs, 'looking for the best combination between flat protection, speed, shock absorption, stability, and weight.' Thanks to chasing the design perfection, each insert has its own shape and compound.
Inserts are designed to provide pinch flat protection and improve tyre stability, but understanding how they best do that is the key to making a good solution. By studying how pinch flats occur and how different tyre inserts interact with the tyre and the rim meant Tubolight could use the material where it's needed, over and outside of the rim bead.
The material that sits over the rim bead is increased by 30% to 60% depending on rim width, and together with a harder compound, rim hits are drastically reduced. Tubolight retain a tight fit as that helps with bead security and sidewall support.
Tubolight Evo SL
This one is superlight, aimed for performance on the cross-country world cup and for marathon or stage racing. The Tubolight Evo SL was designed around rims with a minimum 25mm internal width, up to 42mm of overall width (outside width). It's available for 27.5" or 29" wheels, and suitable for tyres 2.2-2.4". They weigh 59g per end and are sold individually, without valves.
Tubolight also say theyc an be used on the front wheel for enduro and downhill use, and are strong enough for trail riding.

Tubolight EVO HD
The Tubolight EVO HD is taller than the EVO SL and so provides more protection to the rim. The material itself is also firmer so it can support larger impacts. These inserts are developed to work with stronger casing tyres from 2.35” to 2.80".
They need a rim with a minimum internal width of 26mm, and a maximum external width of 46mm. They weigh 90g each and are sold seperately without valves. They're rated for eMTB, downhill and enduro use.
