The Final Upgrade

Time on the Whyte M-109 long termer is sadly fast coming to a close but there is still a couple more upgrades to go. With nationals and a tonne of races fast approaching in the new year it was time to strip back on the M-109 and go into full race mode. Our previously reviewed FRM Stem, seatpost and flatbar make a return, you can view our introduction to these pieces here, but for our final stint we will be running FRM cranks bottom bracket and chain ring along with our test set of Bontrager XXX wheels.

CU3 – M11 XD Crankset

These stunning cranks are crafted from Scandium the ultra light alloy that FRM are famous for. The arms are black hard anodised, meaning these cranks are not only light but will last a lifetime especially coupled with FRM Syncro wide narrow chainring.

Bontrager XXX TLR Disc 29

These wheels are beautifully crafted and are definitely Bontragers best. Dan McConnell highly recommends. They are a 6061 alloy rim construction with the DT star ratchet drive system with bladed spokes and Alpina alloy locking nipples. We reviewed these in issue 143 so we know how good these are and they will a perfect final edition to the Whyte M-109.
