XCC short course joins XCO on World Cup calendar
UCI reveal major change to XCO World Cup rounds - plus big prize money increases.
Cross-country Short Track racing is coming to the World Cup after an announcement by the UCI.
An XCC race will now take place at every round of the XCO World Cup – and will determine the line-up of the XCO race.
The top 16 finishers in the XCC event will occupy the first two rows in the XCO.
The Short Track races are scheduled to run for 20 minutes each and will take place on a wide and flowing course between 1km and 1.5km long – taking around two or three minutes per lap – using the XCO start/finish straight.
Elite MTB riders have also been given a financial boost after the UCI agreed to significantly increase the prize money at World Cups and World Championships.
The overall prize monies at World Champs goes up 67 per cent from €6,000 to €10,000, while in the World Cup the pool increases from €3,950 to €6,500.
The international mountain bike calendar for 2018 has also been agreed by the UCI, although it will not be released publicly until later this week.
