Polygon United Ride take on the Fort
Injuries and bad luck plague the Polygon United Ride team as they take on the famous Fort William World Cup. Click through for a video and special insight as to how it all went down from the team boss.
After almost a months break, the World Cup circus returns to the most famous of tracks, Fort William for round two.
The most prestigious World Cup in Europe is still as demanding and unpredictable as it has ever been. Previous Fort William WC’s have had us used to hard conditions but we couldn’t imagine something like this in June! Snow, rain and wind pushed the organisers, for safety reasons, to cancel Saturday’s qualifications and to pack everything into one day on Sunday.
Our junior rider Remy Morton, in only his second ever World Cup, showed some consistency with an 18th in his qualification run and a nice 11th in finals. As a first year junior it’s great to see him knocking on the door of a top ten. Good odds for the future!
Tracey was eager to prove that she was back to 100% after her injury in Lourdes. In really slippery and technical conditions she took 4th in quali’s but she was determined to go get that top spot she wants so bad. She went all in and unfortunately had a few crashes along the way, ending up in 7th. Pulling crucially important points for the overall. She is still 4th overall.
Mick and Andrew have been really out of luck lately! Andrew crashed last week during a testing session and hurt his back keeping him from going a full 100% during the race. Despite the pain he qualified 55th and thanks to his experience he still managed to get a 30th position in finals.
On Mick’s side, a crash during training saw him break a bone in his hand. Only a small fracture but definitely enough to handicap. He qualified in 30th but a crash during his race run kept him from having the results he wanted and he crossed the line in 58th.
Despite the bad luck, the team stays motivated. Now it’s time to heal up and get ready for the next race in Leogang.
